Laura Richmond, Author of ‘All My Worldly Joy’, Joins MumsAid as New Ambassador

[February 3rd 2025] MumsAid is delighted to announce that Laura Richmond, talented author and respected researcher, campaigner and consultant in perinatal mental health, has been named its newest ambassador.

Laura has garnered widespread praise for her candid and heartfelt exploration of motherhood, mental health, and personal resilience in her writing. Her touching memoir, All My Worldly Joy, offers a welcome touchstone for parents navigating the complexities of early parenthood and sparks important conversations about maternal well-being. In addition to reflecting on her own experiences and challenges, Laura’s memoir offers unique insight into the tensions and absurdities in mental health care.

“We are thrilled to welcome Laura Richmond to MumsAid,” said Dr. Miriam Donaghy, CEO of MumsAid. “Her authentic storytelling and deep understanding of the challenges mothers face make her a powerful advocate for maternal mental health. Laura’s voice will be instrumental in helping us raise awareness and break down the stigma surrounding perinatal mental health issues.”

As an ambassador, Richmond will play an integral role in supporting MumsAid’s mission, sharing her experiences and insights to help inform and inspire other mothers seeking support.

“I really wish that I could have benefitted from a service like MumsAid when my son was a baby,” said Richmond. “I have been amazed by the caring, compassionate, nurturing, holistic support that MumsAid’s provides. I hope to see see MumsAid go from strength to strength and attract more funding and resources so they can expand, develop and reach more mums with that vital, life-changing and often lifesaving, support.”

MumsAid provides free and accessible counselling services and support to mothers facing mental health challenges during pregnancy and beyond. With Laura’s involvement, the charity aims to further its impact, reaching more families and expanding vital support services.
